I raise alpacas and llamas for wool and agritourism — what ATECO code should I use?
01.44.00. Alpacas, llamas and dromedaries are camelids, so their raising and breeding falls here. For sheep and goats, which also produce wool, the code is different: 01.45.00.
I offer llama-trekking experiences for visitors at my farm — does that still fall under 01.44.00?
For the animals themselves, yes — the farming activity remains 01.44.00. The hospitality and tourism side involving visitors is, however, a separate service and is not classified as livestock farming; it should be coded under the relevant accommodation or recreational activity codes depending on how you organise it.
I sell alpacas as breeding stock to other farmers, not for wool — do I stay on 01.44.00 or move to a general livestock code?
You stay on 01.44.00. Alpacas and llamas are camelids and have their own class, so breeding and selling animals also belongs here, regardless of their intended use. Animals without a dedicated code end up in the residual class 01.48.99, which does not apply to camelids.
