58.12.00 when the activity is newspaper publishing, meaning editing and issuing the masthead, including in digital format. A portal that aggregates third-party news without producing its own masthead is closer to web portals such as 63.91.00.
I publish a paper consisting entirely of listings and advertising — does that fall under 58.12.00?
Yes. The code explicitly includes the publishing of newspapers with advertising content, so-called advertising newspapers. It remains newspaper publishing as long as the product is an issued masthead.
I'm a freelance journalist — should I use 58.12.00 or a self-employed professional code?
