Yes, 74.14.01 covers specialised design activities provided by technical draughtsmen. It is technical drawing on commission, distinct from product design and from the other specialised design activities grouped under 74.14.09.
I also do product design on top of technical drawing: do I stay on 74.14.01 or move to industrial design?
Move to industrial design, 74.11.10, when you are conceiving the form, function, and aesthetics of a product. The 74.14.01 code is for specialised technical drawing — the production of drawings — not for originating the product concept.
My specialised design work is neither technical drawing nor covered by any other specific code: is it 74.14.01 or 74.14.09?
The 74.14.01 code is specifically for technical draughtsmen. Other specialised design activities not elsewhere classified belong in 74.14.09. If you are not a technical draughtsman, the catch-all code is generally the right choice.
