Frequently asked questions
I repair die-casting moulds at a foundry — does this code apply, or should I use the one for other machine tools?
Yes, if you work on the mould itself (mould holders, patterns, forms for metal foundries and machinery) you belong here. The deciding factor is the object being repaired: the mould as a tool. If, on the other hand, you service the machine tool that uses the mould for cutting or forming metals, the correct code is 33.12.99.
I also manufacture new moulds in addition to repairing them — can I use just this ATECO code?
No, this code covers only the repair and maintenance of existing moulds. The manufacture of new moulds falls under division 28, not division 33. If you also repair other metal products such as hand tools, see 33.11.02.
I also sharpen the blades and inserts used on the moulds — does that fall under this ATECO code or the one for sharpening?
Only if blade sharpening is your primary service would you end up on a different code: the sharpening of blades and saws for machinery has its own entry at 33.12.91. This code covers the repair and maintenance of the mould and mould holder as a tool for foundry or machinery use.
