Frequently asked questions
I run a weaving mill producing cotton and wool fabrics on looms: ATECO code 13.20.00 or 13.10.00?
13.20.00. This heading covers the manufacture of broad-woven fabrics in cotton, wool, silk, and blended or synthetic fibres. The upstream spinning that produces the yarn falls instead under 13.10.00.
I produce woven velvet and terry fabric — not knitted: does it fall under 13.20.00 or under knitted fabrics?
13.20.00, provided the fabric is produced by weaving. Velvet, chenille, terry, and gauze made by weaving are all listed under this heading. When the fabric is knitted or crocheted — including pile and terry in knitted form — you go to 13.91.00.
I weave technical fabrics that are then coated and impregnated for conveyor belts and tarpaulins: do I stay on 13.20.00 or is there another code?
It depends on the finished product. 13.20.00 covers the weaving of raw broad-woven fabric. Technical and industrial textiles such as tarpaulins, conveyor belts, coated fabrics, and tyre cord fabrics have their own heading: 13.96.00.
