Frequently asked questions

I raise animals for their pelts, excluding rabbits — what ATECO code do I need?
01.48.20. This class covers semi-domesticated fur-bearing animals other than rabbits, as well as the production of bird or reptile skins from farmed animals. For rabbits — even if you sell their pelts — the code remains 01.48.10.
I raise snakes and turtles for their skins — 01.48.20 or 01.48.99?
01.48.20 if the goal is the skin of the farmed reptile. If instead you raise reptiles with no fur/skin purpose — for example for live trade — the correct code is 01.48.99, which covers reptiles other than crocodiles.
The pelts I sell come from wild-caught animals, not farmed ones — does 01.48.20 still apply?
No. 01.48.20 applies only to pelts from animals you breed and raise yourself. Trapping foxes, minks, or other wild animals for their fur is hunting and falls under 01.70.00; what matters here is that the animal is born and raised on your farm.
