Frequently asked questions
Is 62.20.20 for those who manage a client's servers and systems?
Yes, when the main service is keeping IT structures running: server environments, networks, systems, application infrastructure, monitoring, operational maintenance, and ongoing technical management. If instead you only provide advice or project work without operational management, the closest code may be 62.20.10.
Is managing IT infrastructure the same as selling hosting?
No. If you manage a client's IT environment, 62.20.20 is the closer fit. If instead you make infrastructure, server space, hosting, platforms, or cloud resources available to multiple clients, the natural comparison is with 63.10.10 - Web portals, hosting, and related activities.
I offer disaster recovery and third-party software installation but do not manage the systems on a daily basis — does 62.20.20 apply?
Usually not. 62.20.20 presupposes that you take responsibility for and continuously keep a client's systems operational. One-off services such as data recovery from damaged computers or third-party software installation are better placed under 62.90.09 - Other information technology and computer service activities n.e.c.. Operational management is an ongoing service, not a single intervention.
I keep individual employee PCs updated and configured at a company — is that infrastructure management?
It depends on the scope of the service. If you work workstation by workstation, installing and configuring personal computers, you are closer to 62.90.01 - Personal computer configuration. 62.20.20 makes sense when you manage the overall systems, servers, and computing infrastructure of the client — not individual computers one at a time.
