62.90.01 when the activity is the installation and configuration of personal computers and peripheral units. If, on the other hand, you advise the client on which systems to adopt and design the solution, that is IT consultancy, ATECO code 62.20.10.
I build custom PCs and then sell them: do I need 62.90.01 or a trade code?
It depends on what predominates. 62.90.01 covers the configuration and installation of the PC. If the core activity is selling assembled computers as a product, the relevant code is retail or wholesale of computer equipment, not 62.90.01.
I also install third-party software on the PCs I configure: do I need to change code?
Often yes, for that part. Hardware configuration of the PC falls under 62.90.01, whereas the installation of third-party software as a service falls under other IT services, ATECO code 62.90.09.
